Back in Manhattan

Rainy Monday.  Sounds like the perfect day for some wine and a movie, no?  I wanted to check out STK's "Wine Down Mondays."  For those who have not been, do not be deceived by the exterior.  With weathered white brick columns separating roll-up garage doors and no sign other than a modest "STK" on the side, the lounge/steakhouse might at first glance appear to be a storage facility.  In fact, only the glass windows which display a chic interior behind the rolled up garage doors offer any indication to the contrary.  And what a view it is.

Once inside, among the cool lanterns, contemporary mirrors, and colossal animal tusks (they're fake, we asked), you begin to thank yourself for giving this place a chance.  Service was good, wine was not- but hey, when you're paying only 50% of the price, it's worth it to go if only for the ambience.  Next time we'll have to check out the food as well.

After wine-ing down we took a stroll to the Clearview's Chelsea Theater to see the new "Midnight In Paris" film.  Not Woody Allen's best work by any stretch of the imagination, but Time Out New York recommended it to me and on a rainy day like today I can't say I was entirely disappointed.

Here's hoping for a sunnier tomorrow.
