Life's funny

Last weekend I checked out Caroline's on Broadway.  Haven't been to many comedy clubs, but I have to say this one was great.  The basement setting is both intimate and cozy.  The hostess there- really friendly- went above and beyond to give us VIP treatment, including but not limited to giving us a table close enough to catch the comedians' spit.  The bartender could have been a little more polite and a little more present, but that didn't stop us from having a fun night.

Charlie Murphy was the featured act this week.  I actually think he's funnier than his brother.  I won't go too much into the routine, but suffice it to say no topic was considered too inappropriate to discuss.  What marvels me is how often we relate to daily banalities mentioned in routines such as Murphy's; though we often find ourselves in awkward situations which are embarrassing or just plain horrific, we laugh hysterically when comedians underline them and we realize we are not the only ones who experience discomfort. #weareallthesame

All in all, a fun way to spend the evening.  Two tips:  This is one of a select few number of venues that caters to a crowd 18+ and, if you are old enough to drink, you should definitely try out a specialty cocktail- they are huge and served in a take-home commemorative glass.
